I hear more and more that people got a seizure from watching a flash. The author is mostly not to blame but sometimes he actually is! I see namely more and more flashes that are solely made for people to get seizures. I don't have epilepsy myself but my mother does , although in just a mild form. When she has a seizure the only thing she says if you talk to her is: "Yes... yes, sure... sure" and that kind of things. After that she doesn't feel too well, but nothing too serious. But in other cases this can be actually opposite or triggered in a different way. These are a few things that might trigger a seizure:

* Being asleep
* The transition between sleep and wakefulness (hypnagogia)
* Tiredness and sleep deprivation
* Illness
* Constipation
* Menstruation
* Stress or anxiety
* Alcohol consumption
* Pictures with excessive flashing
* Strobe Lights with flashes over 5 Hz (Hertz)
( Source: Wikipedia.org, article epilepsy)

The bold ones are important in this case. Those strobe lights and excessive flashing pictures occur in some flashes and might trigger seizure. Now you'd probably say: well then just don't surf on the web! This is a common proposed solution, that does not make sense. It's the same as saying " KIll yourself." when you're allergic to gluten... Instead authors should, in my opinion and in the opinion of millions of other people, minimize the amount of those bold triggers in their flash. Should it contain those triggers, a warning label should be attached to the place where the trophys get placed ( like turd of the week, crew review pick, etcetera) should the staff of newgrounds not want to cooperate, the author should be forced to put a clear warning in caps lock in their comments section at the page of the flash. I am no lawyer or something but I believe that people who are aware of the fact that their flash contains such triggers or people who publish such flashes on internet or show friends, should get sued to the full extent of law.

I'm aware of the fact that some people might now think: "wtf? Epilepsy can't be that dangerous, so stfu." Indeed, if someone has only a mild form of epilepsy he/she has only a very slim chance to die as a direct result of the seizure. But if one has a "worse" form of epilepsy, one can hurt himself, if there are sharp objects close to him. ( some people lose temporarily full or partial body control when having a seizure) Other's, need to be brought in hospital, and in a less serious case somebody can be lucky and have no seizure but just experience nausea. Other's die as an indirect result of the seizure.

That's why I would like to ask the flash spammers only to stop triggering seizures...

p.s; You can really get sued for triggering epilepsy... it only depends on what the consequences were for the victims, did they die or did they get a powerful seizure?

Thanks for your attention and sorry for the level of English used, English is not my mother tongue, and I've been learning English at school for only 4 years now.

God bless you.
